Born in Puerto Rico on Christmas Eve, 1971 in Puerto Rico, Ricky (nicknamed Kiki) was soon to be drawn by the glare of the spotlight, taking acting lessons and auditioning for several television commercials. In 1982 he raised his game and voice- tested for the Latino boyband Menudo, but being small, he was considered too short to be viable. His early teens however saw him accelerate in growth to a lofty 6’1”, and Menudo couldn’t ignore him! After 5 years of success he decided to head for New York to attempt a solo career; but his efforts were thwarted and he returned to Mexico. On his return he landed the lead role in the musical ‘Mama Ama el Rock’, which proved to be the catalyst in his acting career, taking him to LA and a part in the major soap General Hospital. But music was first love. He recorded the album ‘A Medio Vivir’ which proved to be a massive success and earned him another gold disc to add to his collection. To date his voice has sold 32 million albums and 8 million singles and secured his name alongside some of the greatest Latin performers of all time, and he’s still only 33 - who knows what there is in store? 1.
